Welcome!

These monthly newsletters (from January 2011 to present) are to help us all be more prepared. They are written for the Hurricane Utah Stake (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,) but everyone is welcome to make copies. Many other groups and individuals are using them. (Note: Garden tips are for Southern Utah. You may need to adjust to fit your climate.)

November 2026 Back to Basics Newsletter

November is a month of gratitude. We have finished the harvest, and hopefully all is “safely gathered in – ere the winter storms begin.” It is a month to gather with families, not only for Thanksgiving Dinner, but for other “fall activities”. It is also a great month to be sure we are prepared! This year we are hearing loud noise from around the “world.” There are wars, rumors of wars, political and social unrest. But we have been admonished for over 100 years to prepare! So present day military preparations and countries issuing warnings and “to do” lists, should not alarm us! Let us take inventory of our supplies, and resupply as needed.  With calm, peace, and purpose. Focus with intention on your food and emergency storage. The calm of preparedness always trumps the noise of pending adversity. We will be able to say, as Elder Joseph B Wirthlin once said, “Come what may and love it.”  If you feel a little “late to the game” – remember - There is no time like the present!  No matter where you are on the path of preparedness – this month you can add to, polish up, or begin immediately – and give your family the peace that preparedness brings!

Included in this month's newsletter:
